Whatnot rolled Seller Provided Support (SPS) out across US seller accounts through the middle of 2026, and as of September 1, 2026 it is the standard support experience for every US seller rather than an opt-in pilot.
What changed
Under SPS, a seller resolves eligible post-purchase issues — a missing item, a damaged item, a shipping delay — directly from the Customer Support tab in their Whatnot Inbox, without routing the buyer through Whatnot’s own support team first. Whatnot still steps in for cases involving suspected refund abuse, situations outside a seller’s control, or disputes that don’t resolve between buyer and seller.
The rollout also introduced a public Support Rating on seller profiles, built from response time, how often a buyer has to escalate, refund patterns, and overall buyer satisfaction. That rating is now the primary support-related signal Whatnot uses for Premier Shop eligibility, replacing the earlier standalone support-rating metric it retired in mid-August 2026.
Why it matters for account standing
A seller who does not respond to a buyer’s issue within Whatnot’s two-business-day window risks the case escalating to Whatnot Support directly, which counts against the seller’s Support Rating even if the underlying issue was minor. For any seller who already holds — or is working toward — Premier Shop status, that rating is now a maintenance requirement, not a one-time bar to clear.
